This reminded me of Alice from CMU, which I haven’t seen in action, but have read about. See http://www.alice.org, and in particular the “Story-telling Alice” version, which targets “middle schoolers”. Even this may be too much for primary school kids aged 8-10…

Alice … yeah, it promises a lot but it was quite buggy and not as easy to use as Scratch. I’ve bounced off Alice and stuck to Scratch. I hope Alice gets better, though, because an arms race between them would be awesome!
